Graphic Panels

Gandhi used beautiful graphic panels to talk about the process of Arunachal Pradesh gaining statehood and the implementation of Article 371H. Scroll down to look at them

In the first panel, Gandhi narrates the process behind the formation of Arunachal Pradesh and the Central control that pervaded due to its sensitive frontiers. Through the chronological tracing of the process of statehood, he lays down the arguments for the eventual implemetation of Article 371H

In the second panel, Gandhi talks about the rushed process in which statehood was attained. He details the Constitutional negotiations, ultimately leading to the implementation of ‘Special Provisions’ – that would enforce political control from the centre.

In the third panel, Gandhi talks about the unfairness of Article 371H that allows central interference without local autonomy in Arunachal Pradesh. He calls for a revision in this law, that does not simply protect ‘customary law’, yet provides more local autonomy, giving equality and dignity for everyone.

Video Explainers

Gandhi created a series of videos, uploaded to our Instagram, to explain in detail what Article 371 entails. In the three videos listed respectively, he explains what the special provision Article 371H is, its clauses and examines its differences with other clauses that provide special provisions for Nagaland and Mizoram. For wider accessibility, he has ensured the descriptions are written both in English and Arunachali Hindi. Click on the link below to learn more
